Spearfishing out of Ocean Springs

Every now and then I get an opportunity to go spearfishing with my buddy Nick out of Ocean Springs, MS. The rigs we go to are a good distance out no matter where you launch from (LA or MS). This time of year is good for shallow water rig diving, as red snapper and lemonfish can both be found close in.

We had great weather, and left Ocean Springs around 8:30 am to return at 4:30. We shot an easy limit of Red Snapper, a few mangroves, 3 lemonfish and a few other miscellaneous fish. None of the fish were huge, but it was a good tip overall because we found some of the best eating fish in the Gulf.
