Totally agree. Its sad to see the effects in such a short time; just imagine the long term effects. Way to ruin it for so many people, and even more wildlife.
I was told last night that there are divers who used hand-held bungees to fight fish. That was also legal before the new rules, and I think it should still be allowed.

This is the problem with overly restrictive regulations like we have now. Law abiding people get nothing, while a**holes like this completely disregard them.

No, but this post you commented on is another spot I forgot to tell you about. It's the breakwater by Lake Villa in Metairie. After it dog legs out on the lake side, there are some rock piles you can try. I've shot a few sheeps there.

I find the cleaner water usually starts about 5-10 miles out. You want to swim up to a piling (if you're freediving), then dive down to the base of the piling; then, depending on your breathold ability swim to the other two pilings while your down. I find most of the sheepshead around the base of the pilings. You gotta keep moving, and be ready to shoot, try to keep your gun pointed in the direction you are looking that will help. Just move down the bridge until you find fish.

The bridge sections with the most pilings are the best. The bottom isn't too great along the causeway. The trestles are better. Keep an eye on the wind to help find clean water. With all the wind we've had this weekend, the lake is going to be worthless for a while.

Dude, if you're really interested in spearfishing and want to meet some more guys who do it, come by one of our club meetings. I'm in the New Orleans Aqua Aces. We meet again next tuesday 10/24/06, 8pm, at New Orleans Hamburger on Vets. near Oaklawn. Email me and I'll give you my cell number. chartwell@inlayout.net

I was just wondering, where do you seem to find most of the fish on the causeway any particular spot? In between the middle of the pilings or in between the bridges?

Thanks man. It's my biggest fish so far. Conveniently, I forgot to mention in my post about the 40lb drum I missed Monday. It was like a vw bug going past me - don't ask. I got excuses though if you want to hear them.

Catfish tourney. I'm there. You interested in going? I'll try to talk Cyril into taking two boats if we got a bunch of people interested in doing it. Right now, he's on my boat though, and I got another guy on standby. Let me know.

Don't know any seawall spots. I would keep an eye on the wind though. If we have light south winds for a few days, the southshore should clean up. Light N winds and the northshore will clean up. The middle of the lake generally stays the cleanest, but when the wind blows hard it muddies up too.

You may want to check out spearboard.com and talk to some of the local guys. There's some guys in the helldivers club that have a lot of experience in the lake. A bunch of them post on there too.
